IN THE NATURE PARK ZIRBITZKOGEL-GREBENZEN
Nestled between lush meadows, proud mountains, ponds, streams and moors, the intact beauty of our Zirbitzkogel - Grebenzen Nature Park can be enjoyed to the fullest. During forays through our forests and alpine pastures you will reach the 2,396m high Zirbitzkogel with its wonderful view of the Mur valley. But also the Grebenzen (1,892m) leaves nothing to be desired. The diversity of flora and fauna never ceases to amaze our guests, both young and old.
WHAT IS NATURE PARK?
Nature parks are "model landscapes" with particular ecological value. The Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park was already awarded the "Prädikat Naturpark" in 1982 and is thus one of the oldest nature parks in Styria.
WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
The Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park stands for responsible cooperation between man and nature.
GLACIERS & MORE
The Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park owes its special landscape form to the last ice ages, which left behind broad plateaus, lovely landscape forms, many ponds, streams and springs.
The "Via Natura" offers hikes for young and old for every taste. On 130 km, 10 themed sections lead through 3 municipalities.
NATURE JEWELS IN THE NATURE PARK
The Dürnberger Moor was formed around 12,000 years ago and lies between Mariahof and St. Blasen.
This pond and moor landscape, which is also designated as a Natura 2000 European protected area, is widely known to scientists and biologists as a natural gem.
The wetland Hörfeld Moor is home to over 500 species of butterflies, moths and birds. A paved hiking trail leads around and through the moor and gives visitors an insight into its sensitive habitat.
